Ina holds a master’s degree in applied and molecular biotechnology from RWTH Aachen University. Her master’s thesis, conducted at the Yale School of Public Health, focused on the genetic diversity of circulating RSV lineages within the epidemic cycle in Germany. Through this project, Ina developed an interest for virus evolution and phylodynamic approaches. With previous work experience at the German National Reference Center for Streptococci and the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, Ina is willing to combine her interests in public health and vaccine-preventable diseases with the spatial analysis methods developed and applied at the SpELL.
Her PhD project will focus on ecological niche modelling and photodynamic assessments of avian influenza risk and dispersal in the context of vaccination implementations. The project is part of the VIVACE Doctoral Network and is co-supervised by Dr Claire Guinat (INRAE, Toulouse).
